ABOUT MANY LANGUAGES ONE VOICE (MLOV)
Many Languages One Voice (MLOV) was founded in 2010 and is currently located in the Columbia Heights and Petworth neighborhoods in Washington, D.C. MLOV works with and for community members to advocate for language access, educate about workers' rights, promote civic engagement, develop youth and adult leaders, and help immigrant families reach their goals.
MLOV’s Summer Youth Program
MLOV’s Summer Youth Program primarily serves first, 1.5, and second-generation immigrants, mainly from low-income, Spanish-speaking households. For five weeks during the summer, 50-55 rising 6th through 12th graders focus on life skills for their futures, explore who they are, and gain confidence in their leadership abilities. They build friendships with like-minded youth and go on weekly field trips.
As staff, we prioritize creating a sense of community and belonging, take an empathetic and assets-based approach, and make an intentional choice to show up for our youth and community every day. In 2025, over 87% of our students felt like they belonged and contributed to making the space safe.
