Early Valentine's Day Sapna Pandya wrote a bittersweet letter to the community.
On this day renowned for celebrating love, I'm writing to you with my heart full and my spirits soaring to share that I've decided to transition from my role as a founding Executive Director of Many Languages One Voice.
The last nine years have been nothing short of a labor of love that I'm grateful to have shared with you all as comrades and partners.
I'm proud of the role I've played in the multiple systemic shifts we've led as an organization. In the face of opposing forces such as xenophobia, racism and a neoliberal capitalist framework, what we've achieved already as an organization is remarkable.
Among the many achievements I've had in leading this unique organization, perhaps the most important has been assembling a team of incredible, local, immigrant organizers on our board and staff who are directly impacted by the very issues we organize around. I'm so proud to leave MLOV knowing that this team is now in place!
I'm confident beyond a doubt that MLOV will continue to provide the safe space for all immigrants to claim our rightful home here in DC, with dignity and power.
As some of you may know, my wife and I were blessed with the most incredible, joyful baby this year. With patience and respect to my ancestors' wisdom, I'm heeding the call to my role in practicing "revolutionary mothering" while in this movement moment.
With joyous anticipation of what this new phase of my life will bring me, I want to thank each one of you for your comradeship and support, without which neither I nor MLOV would be at this point.
I am planning for my last day to be April 21st of this year, the 15th anniversary of DC'S Language Access Act's passage. Please stay tuned for more from me soon regarding MLOV's future leadership.
Happy Valentine's Day and may love continue to lead us forward.
